John Giumarra III was sentenced to 90 days in the Work Release Program in a crash that killed a bicyclist in which he was driving under the influence but was found not responsible for the collision, after the court granted the defense motion to reduce the felony to a misdemeanor. After the hearing, Sala said the Judge examined the evidence without allowing emotion or Giumarra’s status in the community to interfere with the facts of the case. Sala said, “in this particular case, there is absolutely no evidence that Mr. Giumarra was the cause of this incident.”
